C. K. Durham
C. K. Durham was born in New York City and spent lazy, idyllic summers in the Adirondack mountains. Her love of reading started early-on and, by the time she was ten, her free time was spent either browsing the library or curled up with a favorite book, imagining magical realms and faraway lands. She was later educated at Le Grand Verger, Lutry, Switzerland, a small school hosting students from all over the world. Her time there precipitated an impassioned desire to explore the planet; its people, cultures, languages, and lands. She has lived in Switzerland, Hawaii, Panama, and India and has traveled extensively all over the globe. For several years, she lived along-side a military contract team that flew covert missions along the coast of South America and around the world. A mysterious encounter in her early thirties initiated a series of serendipitous events that led her to study Shamanism in the high Andes alongside the ancient Q’ero, last of the Incans, practice and study yoga at the feet of yogis and mystics in India, and study and teach Taoist energy principals here in the United States. She currently resides in Boulder, CO. Lotus, an epic spiritual adventure, is her first novel.
Predictive dreams. Tangled jungle paths. Covert ops. A passionate, whirlwind romance. A journey of self-discovery. Mera Rodriguez grew up in a large family in rural El Salvador. She has a gift for communicating with wildlife and a gleam in her eyes that only serves to concern her mother. Then, her world turns upside down when her family is caught up in a local revolution. Little does she know what revelations she will discover as she struggles to help her family survive. Navy pilot Lance Jameson has been recruited for a special diplomatic mission in the American fight against communism in the faraway land where he grew up. He struggles with whom he can trust in the not-so-foreign Thailand. Meeting a gorgeous stranger complicates his life, and he’s forced to reconsider his priorities. When his cover is blown, his plans fly out the window. Isabela Marquez dreams of a more fulfilling and creative life. The divine sends her a vision of beautiful Thailand as she sleeps in her family ranch house in El Salvador, and she feels compelled to follow its message. With her American friend Kate begging her to postpone her wedding for an adventure to study under an art master in Chiang Mai, Isabela gives in to her desire. What happens in a world away from home is wilder than she ever dreamed. Lotus is a non-linear travel thriller about destiny and political conflicts. One family becomes bound together from unexpected points of origin and throughout time. They discover how their lives are entwined with the fate of the world through an epic, generations-long historical book about romance, loss, and the devastation of war. What is the true meaning of freedom? Are we ever truly alone if everything is connected?
