This is a non-fiction, quasi-self help book in the form of a memoir. Here's the blurb: Forget the old concept of going straight from high school to college to work. Through first-hand perspective, gap year girl Monika Lutz will show you how to intern around the world, earn college credit, and have Harvard offer you undergraduate admission on the way home. All for less than the price of a full year at state school. In Now What?, Lutz takes you along on her six-country gap year journey from college rejection to jungle huts, high fashion houses, and inside the US Congress to break through the college controversy that’s tearing our high schools apart. This is the real story the newspapers couldn’t stomach.
What's your vision?
Required: The title: "Now What? How a gap year of international internships prepared me for college, career, and life" My name: "Monika Lutz" Looks good as an e-book/Amazon icon. Back cover: "Monika has been featured in USA Today, The Wall Street Journal, TIME, Glamour, and more!" Optional/Encouraged: Pop art, comic book style seems really cool. I would like something that's very poppy and bright so that high schoolers (my target market) will see it on the shelf and be attracted. Needs to be young enough-looking for high schoolers, but the book is about 13 internships around the world, so travel and adventure is a theme as well. Locations visited include Shanghai, London, New York City, Washington D.C., Singapore, Bali, Kuala Lumpur, Nepal, India, Vietnam, San Francisco, Boulder, Colorado and Bali.
I attached a rough sketch that I tried to make look like a comic book. Also, some pictures of me from my travels during the year. You do not necessarily need to use any of these.
