Icon design for "Race Trace" iPhone app

We develop mobile software, specializing in apps to collect and analyze sports statics.

We'd like an iPhone app icon for our app called Race Trace.  Our users mount their phone to their car or motorcycle while driving at race tracks.  The app collects data from the phone's internal sensors and external sensors.  It analyzes and displays data and statistics about their driving session.  This data helps users improve their lap times and record their progress (in terms of lap times and speed around the track). We don't have any graphics or GUI themes yet, so this icon will set the direction we go. Some key words central to our app: lap times, (race) track, driving, data acquisition, recording, logging We are engineers so need your creativity and aesthetic expertise. We're looking for an icon which might be described as: Clean, simple, Apple-esque, possibly vintage or classic Motifs to consider: A timer or stopwatch, wheels/tires, checked flag, logging or tracing, race track (circuit) map, green light array used to start races We DON'T want an icon that might be described as: Flashy, high-tech, instrumentation gadgetry. The icon needs to look good at regular icon size and also when it's enlarged to 1024*1024. I expect to get the source files of the art work in addition to the png files, in popular sizes, from the person who wins the competition. Please make sure your entries into the competition are all original artwork. Do not copy from the web or other apps. These would the resolutions I'll need, from the winning designer at the end of the competition:--1024x1024 (pixels)-512x512  -144x144-114x114 -72x72 -57x57   In addition to  the png images for these sizes, I would need the original layered source file(s) so I can modify the image at a later date if I need to.
