timpowell.nyc got their new landing page design by running a design contest:
New York City Restaurant Homepage
Check out timpowell.nyc's Landing page design contest…
Online website for a restaurant that takes orders online in the New York area.
We don't love our current site design/layout. We want a Black & White Old New York Feel (see http://bit.ly/1ChQYkQ) while incorporating the Green from the logo as an accent color (can also add another accent color with the green if it helps). The only color elements we want should be the product/food photos and maybe custom foodie/ny social icons for InstaGram, Facebook, etc...
Elements to include in the landing page
We would like everything that is there now but organized bette, neat user interface, modern 2015 design/website practices such as fixed header on scroll, single page scroll/sections, call to actions above the fold, etc.
All elements on the home/landing page that is there now should remain and you can add any helpful elements if you think they ADD to the user experience. The main Black and White image should be a high res action shot of chefs cooking in a kitchen. Something like the attached image but BETTER. We will provide these photos once our kitchen opens. We will also have a video of a walkthrough to the kitchen that will be featured on the homepage. ******** Additional Comments ********* Our logo font was inspired from two points: 1)b&w chalk-like stroke to keep the personal and fun feel of a mom & pop start-up 2) reflective green as our hunger stimulating color which carries through to our delivery team as a practical reflective piece for safety as well as a branding point. Our website and our delivery staff are the only points of contact that our business has. This assists in bringing the two together. Our landing/home page photos should demonstrate that we are a serious hard working culinary team. Black and white photos containing the following elements: rolled up sleeves on chef’s coat with working knife action, smoke and flames with product from the grill, numerous bodies working in the background, product abundance shot (ex: loaves of backed bread on the rack, etc.) We still want the latest and greatest when it comes to design. The latest clean and simple trends fit us well. We are all about product and efficiency. Our logo, font, photos, and color scheme will show who we are, but our cutting edge design and site functionality will show how we operate.
