pau3u got their new logo design by running a design contest:
Design a bold new logo for a commercial photographer
Check out pau3u's Logo design contest…
The logo must be able to stand on its own but also to accomodate "Photography", with an appropriate font, either below or beside the logo.
I am a commercial photographer whose target clients are medium to large brands selling athletic-wear, lingerie, eyewear, cosmetics and jewelry. Virtually all my work involves shooting people, usually models or athletes, wearing client's products. The target audience ranges from clothing designers, commercial directors through advertising agency execs and is very design literate. Being in a highly competitive market, it is important that the logo stands out and is memorable. A great example is that of photographer Tim Tadder (worth a google search) whose stylized initials logo is distinct and well known in the industry. I am looking for a logo that is bold, sophisticated and contemporary. Where possible, I want it to convey that: - my work is creative & dynamic - my work has vision - my work has impact - I am design aware - I am collaborative - I am resourceful
Through the first round a lot of photographers were a little too literal in their references to photography. My initial brief was (and still is) for the more abstract end of the abstract/literal spectrum. I am NOT looking for elements of a camera like lenses, bellows, apertures etc to be incorporated in the logo. Photography related ideas like flash, frame lines, studio space or light would be fine to incorporate however. It also was bought to my attention that a number of the submissions were either direct copies or other logos or minimally modified ones. Obvioulsy I would like something genuinely unique but I apprecaite that there may be similarities to existing designs out in the wild. That isn't a deal killer as long as we can make it mine. If there was some inspiration behind a design idea please let me know so that we can discuss ways in which it might be customized.

Very hard-working designer who is always happy to take feedback and make any changes necessary to make the design better. They've provided a lot of ideas and have iterated on the final design multiple times. Dan has been very responsive and quick to respond with new solutions.
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
