THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL OF YOUR SUBMISSIONS. WE'VE CHOSEN THE DESIGNERS WE WOULD LIKE TO MOVE ON TO THE NEXT ROUND WITH AND ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTING ADDITIONAL CONCEPTS FOR CONSIDERATION. BACKGROUND: We are in the process of renaming an existing restaurant to “Eighty Ocean.” The name Eighty Ocean was chosen as it is the physical address of the space. While the name has changed, the look, feel and vibe of the restaurant will remain the same. In fact, much of the branding from the original restaurant will remain the same (color pallet, tone, materials, menu offerings etc… see images attached below). We are in need of a new logo for this re-named space. ABOUT THE SPACE: Eighty Ocean is truly an ocean-front restaurant. It looks east over the ocean with both indoor and outdoor seating located on the ground floor of the brand new Jekyll Ocean Club Hotel (opened summer 2017, http://www.jekylloceanclub.com/). The outdoor seating overlooks an ocean-front swimming pool and fire pit. Modern garage doors connect the indoor and outdoor dining space providing an open-air feel. The menu features a delectable raw bar, fresh fish grill, wood-fired hearth oven, and plates designed for sharing. Fresh-caught seafood and local fish round out the dinner menu. This space is widely regarded as the most upscale restaurant on the island. AUDIENCE INSIGHTS: The patrons of the restaurant are affluent and include both families and couples. They feel the space is upscale, classy, and modern. However, they also describe the space comfy and fun. Given the open-air feel, patrons could be dressed in in slacks and a sport coat as easily as they could be in swim trunks and flip flops. It’s an excellent mix of relaxed and refined. WHAT IS THE KEY TAKE AWAY? Eighty Ocean is the perfect balance of oceanfront relaxation and refinement.
Other color requirements
Darker blues and light neutrals. Light blues feel too playful for the space.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL OF YOUR SUBMISSIONS. WE'VE CHOSEN THE DESIGNERS WE WOULD LIKE TO MOVE ON TO THE NEXT ROUND WITH AND ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTING ADDITIONAL CONCEPTS FOR CONSIDERATION. WE WANT TO AVOID LITERAL NAUTICAL MOTIFS, SUCH AS ANCHORS, FISH, STEERING WHEELS, ETC. WAVES, RENDERED IN AN ABSTRACT WAY OR USED AS ORGANIZATIONAL ELEMENTS CAN BE CONSIDERED. NAME: You can explore both "Eighty Ocean" spelled out, or the numeric name "80 Ocean". Additionally, you can play around with the following variations of the descriptor "Kitchen and Bar", "Kitchen & Bar", or "Kitchen + Bar". FONTS: Keeping with the relaxed and refined nature of the restaurant, we would like to explore modern fonts and script fonts separately, as well as play around with contrasting the two. COLOR PALETTE: The color palette currently exists of blues, whites, and tans, which pull from the oceanfront location, and we would like to pursue similar palettes in the logo for consistency. ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS: The name was changed to reflect the actual address. Consider marks that depict location markers. Based on the oceanfront location of the restaurant, abstract wave and other coastal motifs could be explored as organizational elements, however, the menu is diverse, so steer clear of overly nautical themes and or images (ropes, anchors, wheels, etc…). The logo should be simple, modern, refined, and able to layer over various illustrations or images created as part of the final branding. PHOTO REFERENCES: Below are pictures of the physical space showing off the casual yet refined interior, modern garage doors, open kitchen, indoor/outdoor vibes, large outdoor fire pit, and a sample of our food and beverage offerings.
