!update What is trending well is a combination of man/animal in the styles indicated. A black and white logo with clear text and all of the "old line craft" text on one line. If established is included, the year is 2016. ( MMXVI )
The steampunk assets are trending well. Please preserve those.
Clarity at scale is also important and simple is better. The combination of a man at a bench working, with an animal companion is doing the best.
! Edit to brief - if a hand plane is included in your design, the proper position is parallel to the bench, or flat against the surface. If you incorporate tools in your design, please use "antique" tools. I am a traditional joiner, so no nails or other mechanical fasteners should not be used.
BE SURE to check the REFERENCES attachments in my brief. I've included several examples there. Thanks!
I would like the logo to represent traditional craft, old school. I very much like the steampunk style. Elizabethan, grungy... Logo could include hand plane, chisel, mallet, handsaw, carpenters square, dividers, etc. I prefer the metal bodied planes to the very old wood bodied ones. I like curves and would love to see acanthus incorporated.
A design that I would very much appreciate would include an acanthus element either curved or circular as a featured part of the design which flows into the other elements, be it text or other visual element. I appreciate the drawn or created over the copied or pasted. Though as long as it flows and hits the feel, I'm ok with either.
You could use a beard outline as part of it, I don't mind gears and things in it, but no circular sawblades.
I plan to use the logo both for online branding as well as physical, burned in branding on my pieces. Please take my suggestions as guidelines and feel free to express artistic freedom in the design. I am looking for something a bit grungy. I want the brand to look modern and hip, but also suggest a bit of luxury.
