Updated Brief (as of Feb. 22 -- 9am PST) New Visual Style Directions I want a logo for my research team. I would like the logo to represent the process of communication and exchanging messages to gain mutual understanding among communicators. The logo must have the full name of my research team: Goal Understanding & Communication Because the acronym for my research team's lab name is GUAC, the logo will likely have the acronym “GUAC” or even “GU&C”. The word Lab does not necessarily have to be part of the logo, however. The logo must represent the process of exchanging messages (**communication**) in a clever and exciting way. Communication is a complex and reciprocal process. It is dynamic and often multifaceted. Communication is about gaining mutual understanding. I would like the logo to abstractly represent the dynamic process of communication, with a focus on how people exchange messages, interpret those messages, and reach mutual understanding. We use social experiments, surveys, digital behavioral data, etc. to describe and explain how people pursue their goals and the ways in which other people interpret and understand those goals. We do not use beakers or glassware; we are not that kind of science. My research team's lab is not your stereotypical type of “lab”; we have never worn lab coats, for example. Nor have I ever needed a bunsen burner for any of my publications. It’s a social science lab conducting experiments on human participants to learn how they communicate and understand each other given our unique goals and agendas. The logo will represent my research team when I and my PhD students present at academic and professional conferences. My audience is academia and professional talks, website, etc. Students, colleagues, professionals, journalists, etc. will see the logo. I will also use the logo for an online presence, such as the Communication department website at UC Davis. Thanks for reading this far. Cheers! Nik P.
I’m open to all ideas. I can visualize what I want but I might be wrong. Impress me with your creativity, but also use my guidelines to an extent. I eventually want web presence and would like to continue working with the designer, if this works well. Thank you!!! Nik
