Jay "Red" Nielsen got their new logo design by running a design contest:
Logo for Montana Ranch Wedding Venue - Homestead on McVey

We are a wedding VENUE in Montana that targets mainly a female bride-to-be demographic from 24-38, but the grooms do have to be considered in the design. We provide couples a beautiful venue to have their dream outdoor wedding. We provide 5 acres of land with gorgeous vistas of snow capped mountain range, an 80 year old barn to have reception and such, plus a 100 year old house that can be used by the wedding party to prepare for the day. The current logo is a bit boring and feels like clip art. It feels like 3 parts and could have been done in Microsoft Word. We don't like the font as it feels too modern. The execution of the mountain range is too rigid and feels more like something from a company that makes ice, or a mountain climbing expedition. Our new logo should have an casual-elegant feel and should use the mountain range as well as the barn since those are the main initial selling points. We want to avoid too much flourish type, but not opposed to controlled script style. The logo should feel as one complete idea. Feel free to be creative with font choices that meet Foster Creek Farm (logo included) is about 4 hours away and we need to avoid copying their logo. We have the same offerings in terms of barn and view and our barn is similar in shape to their barn. Our logo needs to be unique. We do like the larger type/smaller barn as that would be better readability for outdoor signage. The attached PDF has many competitor logos and images of the venue to get your creative juices flowing. We think that a simple solution of the barn+mountain range + name would be a good solution. The competitor logos are all straight on view and feel similar. Maybe having the barn/range with a 3/4 angle could be a way to differentiate us better from Foster Creek. But we are open to all creative ideas. We like the simplicity and elegance of neutral colors, like warm greys, or something that ties into our venue. Looking at our photo gallery (see attached jpg) might give you some inspiration in the color palette. We picked blues and greens, but just as simple accent colors may be in muted tones.
