Positano is an independant, family owned, charming, rustic Italian Restaurant in a small town in England (Guildford, Surrey). Here is an overview and some pictures of the restaurant: http://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g186390-d3245160-Reviews-Positano-Guildford_Surrey_England.html The type of cuisine is high quality, not too pretentious, home made, classic Italian food. The logo should represent the type of cuisine and also the place itself. We are trying to create the feel of a hidden, unique, little place which targets either high class customers or young couples. It is a relaxed atmosphere with friendly but professional, attentive staff. It is important not to scare away customers with a logo that looks too much like a high class restaurant. Instead, it should be elegant, yet with a touch of playfulness. The price range is quite competitive (£10 for a lunch set - £30 for starter, main and dessert), although the type of cuisine belongs to quite high standard restaurants. There is a wine cellar with classic, affordable wine but also unique and expensive wine. Hopefully, this gives you an idea of the feel and branding of the restaurant. We like the calligraphy, handwritten font style. Some creative incorporation of certain elements that are typical of the region could be: an old style lantern, the Positano coast line, a basil leaf, a pomodoro (little tomato), an old Italian style window... Our preliminary idea revolves around a black logo on a light background perhaps with a splash of red and green (for the italian national colours) on the details. This is a good example of this: http://logopond.com/logos/4d66d125b2ffa79657fb9ce8ba2ed557.png Guildford must be incorporated in small font under the name of the restaurant. While the tagline - Ristorante Italiano - should be under some sort of line below the logo. Our first attempt at sketching this can be found here: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/7183561/positano-try.png Don't get too attached to this, it was just a test. We're looking for something a little bit more playful. Here are some logos that are close to what we like: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/7183561/amalfi.png (too simple) https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/7183561/fairmont.jpeg (too classic) https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/7183561/cinqueterre_logo.jpg (too playful) Good luck, I look forward to your designs!
