The Scala programming language is strongly associated with red/black spiral designs and I would like to go with that theme (http://www.scala-lang.org/faq/1 ... the photo at the bottom of that page is mine).
The logo will be used on the company website (http://www.chuusai.com) replacing/supplementing the "Chuusai" text, and on the company Google+ page (http://www.chuusai.com/google). It will also be used on business cards and presentations (monochrome, white foreground, grey backgroud) and as a twitter background. A reduced size variant for use as a website favicon would also be very helpful.
The image used as the background at the top of http://www.chuusai.com is derived from http://www.flickr.com/photos/montpe…otostream/ which is also mine, and I would be happy to see elements of that incorporated into the design, although that's not a requirement. The logo will be used over the top of that background image (ie. replacing/supplementing the "Chuusai" text that's there now) so should fit well in that context.
Chuusai's customers are technology companies and computer scientists at the most sophisticated end of the spectrum. Visitors to the site are decision makers and senior technical staff.
