"Celebrating Great Beer" What's On Tap is a retail store that specializes in nurturing the seasoned beer aficionado as well as the newly-converted fans of the many varieties of terrific beer being brewed, offering a unique tasting experience of regional as well as national craft beer. Patrons can sample from a selection of beers on tap, stay for a pint or fill their growlers (a specialty type of container) full of fresh tap beer for carry out, as well as choose from our carefully selected stock of pre-bottled beers from around the world. Like Starbucks, the end product is as much about the experience as the drinking product--we offer a warm and engaging environment for sampling beers; and our target audience is the discerning beer enthusiast. Our most likely demographic is males age mid-20s to upper 40s, and tends to be more affluent although females are also growing in this category. My logo should represent the values that intersect something classic (drinking beer as an art) in a manner that resonates with style and class. I have chosen the man with the hat because that is my signature look and I think goes nicely with what I hope to express. I would like to see more pouring action shots although some of the ones where it is being hoisted out as "cheers" look good as well. Where there is less physical detail of the man's character (especially in the facial characteristics) I have tended to like it better. I would like my banner and font for What's on Tap to express boldness, vivacity and warmth. I'm not sold on any particular colors at this point. There are several designs submitted thus far that are very intriguing, however I tend to like the vintage style--see this link for examples: http://www.pinterest.com/99designs/vintage-design-at-99/ Additional note: This is for a retail store so the logo needs to work for both signage as well as printing on growler and glassware as well as other promotional items. Thank you and good luck!
Logo types to explore
I'd like the designers to consider a graphic that incorporates a man wearing a classic brimmed hat (such as a fedora) pouring beer from a tap; or perhaps just a hat incorporated in the logo.

And then… they selected a winner!
The process to get business logo and stationery was a complete success with a great variety of ideas and couldn't be more impressed with the final result. The winning designer was extremely helpful and accomodating to provide finishing touches after the competition had ended. I would unreservedly recommend this process to anyone looking for a professional image.
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
We think contests are a super fun way to get design.
