Images that we attached are the high school Tanner Bull and school crest. We would like some aspect of the bull perhaps the horns designed into the school system logo but we DO NOT want another version of the bull as many people relate the bull to athletics. The school crest was attached so you can see how we incorporated knowledge, tanner pride, community and our city library. However we DO NOT want another crest. Everyone wants a "cool" looking logo that is classy, professional, and NOT elementary looking. We are looking for a logo that reflects our school system. A logo that everyone will be proud to wear and visually everyone will know that is is our school system logo. History of Woburn - Woburn has always had blue-collar working-class roots. It was settled by seven men from Boston’s Charlestown neighborhood in 1640, incorporated as a town in 1642 and became a city in 1889. One of those seven men, Captain Edward Johnson, was regarded as the “the father of Woburn,” perhaps because he seemed to stand out as the leader of the group. He eventually became the city’s first mayor and was the town clerk and recorder. Johnson’s descendants are thirteen- and fourteen-generations deep in Woburn, and many still call this city their home. There is an unspeakable bond that true Woburnites have by virtue of being born and raised here before starting families. Woburn has several historical landmarks that are valuable windows into the past. The Woburn Public Library is a National Historic Landmark designed by architect Henry H. Richardson. The Count Rumford House was the childhood home of Benjamin Thompson, soldier, inventor, statesman, scientist and physicist. The Middlesex Canal, which operated between Charlestown and Lowell from 1805 to 1856, was an engineering feat of its time and provided transportation before the railroad. The Baldwin Mansion is the site where the Baldwin Apple was developed, and 1790 House is a colonial inn and tavern that was a stop on the Underground Railroad during the Civil War. Woburn was also home to Charles Goodyear, who discovered the vulcanization process for rubber. Woburn is 12.9 square miles, with a population of approximately thirty-eight thousand and a school system consisting of one private school and eleven public schools—one high school, two middle schools and seven elementary schools. There are numerous athletic fields, a community ice rink, a ninehole public golf course and Library Park recreation field. The jewel of the city is the spectacular area of Horn Pond, where legend has bestowed the names of Lake Innitou and Mount Towanda to the area. This region has a peaceful pond, hiking and walking trails and a mountain view of the city of Boston. If you happen to experience the beautiful sunsets at the pond, you will understand why we call Woburn our home.
