Should be modern, and made to represent a high profile site. I am looking for a full-width darker background, something like dark grey, forest green, maroon, navy or similar.

I am in the process of developing a website called WordpressThemes.com, and will be needing a very brandable logo and header. The winner's design will be given credit and a linkback at the footer of the website.
Using the current Wordpress logo is not acceptable, this site is not affiliated with them (although it's been granted permission to be run) and may not in anyway represent the official Wordpress site.
