What's your vision?
We would like three postcards to describe our work with schools, corporations and families. Schools: Overview: We want schools to realize that supporting children with different learning needs increases their bottom line, as well as their image, with our help. Families and corporations are looking for schools with the capacity and/or resources to support families, no matter what needs they have. If schools do not have the full capacity to meet a child's needs, our team bridges that gap online - whether it through special educational coaching, speech therapy, occupational therapy, paraprofessional training, Child Study Team services, and expert availability in all disciplines. Our services fold into the school's work easily - we are accessible and available wherever, whenever (any time zone, any location). Bringing customized, individualized and timely professional development to them anywhere. Specifically, this looks like: -Online training to individuals and teams (kid-specific or generalized) -Child screening and assessment -Online Child Study Team -Online treatment (Speech, OT, Counseling, etc...) -Gifted and Talented training and consultation -Admissions screening assistance -Pre-transition training and consultation (when a family is moving between locations, we can meet with the new school team to provide a summary and any necessary training to meet the child's needs) -Ongoing office hours with experts (sensory needs, speech/language development, behavior, gifted and talented, differentiation, RTI, etc...) -Our services support staff development, in turn, promoting staff retention -These services are cost-effective - you will be adding kids to your school (tuition) and also building capacity to better your school's brand within the international school landscape. -References available - IDS carries brand recognition -Fully vetted and recommended by The United States Department of State We would like this to look school-friendly, with a feeling like our expertise is a huge value-add for them...we want them to say "woah, we need this!" because they don't have the resources already that we provide. Corporations: Overview: We want corporations to fold our services into their Employee Assistance Programs (EAP - part of their "benefits" for international employees). We want them to see that we can be a value-added resource for their internationally-mobile workforce, as we can immediately mobilize our experts to meet any of their needs. We can also be a value-add to their HR departments, who are tasked with international assignment viability for their employees. Where before, some families may not be able to move to certain locations due to their child/children's educational and therapeutic needs, we want them to realize that our online services can fill that gap - making any employee available to move anywhere. Specifically, this looks like: -support relocation process for family -prevent broken assignments through educational and therapeutic supports to families before, during and after transition. -full service resource for companies' HR team with: assessment, intervention and consultation services to support families living abroad -full service resource for local schools serving international families: training and consultation available anywhere -Pre-screen a school's capacity to support a child's specific educational needs (we can provide recommendations) before assignment ... helping companies know what to expect and highlighting any red flags in a specific location -We prevent broken assignments -Provide necessary (often emergency) therapeutic and educational interventions (training, coaching, direct therapy) -Provide educational and therapeutic resources in even the most remote assignments -Capacity-building for all local providers, schools and communities through educational and therapeutic training and support -Value-added resource for any corporation's Employee Assistance Program (EAP) -Keeping their best talent mobile despite any specific family educational or therapeutic needs -Fully vetted and recommended by The United States Department of State We want this to feel very professional, highlight expertise and mostly that we are a value-add and that we ultimately save the company money, as we prevent broken international assignments (this can cost companies hundreds of thousands of dollars). Families: Overview: We serve as a child and family's case manager for all of their educational and therapeutic needs (from assessment to treatment to training of providers) anywhere in the world, from location to location. We hold families' hands throughout the process, help to create relationships to better support the family and child, and take the worry out of international transitions...because they take us with them. Specifically, this looks like: -Individual online therapy between a therapist and child (sometimes with parent also, depending on age/situation) -Parent coaching between therapist and parent/caregiver focused on behavior and therapeutic support -Educational coordination and planning (development of specific, individualized education and/or therapeutic plan for a child with goals, objectives and strategies) -Multidisciplinary team support - instant access to educational and therapeutic experts anywhere in the world (via videoconference) -Take your therapist with you (we can follow the family wherever they go for international posts/assignments) -Help parents to communicate with the school, advocate for their child's needs -Pre-screen a school's capacity to support their child's specific educational needs (and we can provide recommendations) -Online screening for educational and therapeutic needs -In-person assessment services in the areas of: speech/language, cognition, academic achievement, motor development, behavior, sensory, social/emotional functioning -Train the child's teachers and support staff to better meet child's educational needs in the school setting We'd like family-friendly language, visuals - something that depicts comfort and security, but also professionalism.
While there are individual providers of one or two of the services we have listed above, we are the only ones who have trained, vetted experts wrapping around families, corporations and schools to truly meet any educational or therapeutic need they may bring us. The word "solutions" in our name is no accident we strive to solve any problem a family, school or corporation brings us through our expertise and outside-the-box thinking. A few examples: -we assessed a child here in our DC offices who has significant attention issues. We are now working with the child's onsite occupational therapist to provide consultation, and will be working regularly with his parents and his teachers to increase his success at home and school. In addition, we are working with the father's employer to ensure that the next international assignment is supportive and successful for the family. -We were set to provide a series of behavior professional development sessions to a school in Kenya. Just days before our first scheduled training, the horrific terrorist attack at the mall in Nairobi occurred, impacting many families and staff within the school community. We immediately mobilized our Grief and Trauma expert, who provided training to the school staff on recognizing and supporting post-traumatic effects throughout the school community.
