Design a poster for a mobile technology course at Carnegie Mellon University
Check out kurt l's Postcard, flyer or print contest…
We’re teaching a course on “Mobile Service Innovation” to students at Carnegie Mellon University. The course is jointly taught by Jim Morris and Steven Dow, both professors in the Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) Institute at Carnegie Mellon. The course focuses on teaching students the tools and processes for designing new mobile information services. The major course project is identifying a problem, developing a solution with a mobile component, and creating a video describing the solution that could be used for a crowdfunding campaign. The course goals include: (1) learning “design thinking”, (2) using the Internet to gather and refine ideas, and (3) designing a valuable mobile product or service. Topics covered in the course include: * Mobile information services * Value proposition, business models * Needfinding, interviewing, analyzing social media * Divergent thinking, brainstorming, generating alternatives * Synthesis techniques and problem framing * Storytelling, storyboarding, and video production * Prototyping/blueprinting for mobile services * Crowdsourcing, web analytics, A-B testing The target audience is both undergraduate and graduate students at Carnegie Mellon, especially students studying Computer Science, Business, Design, and Human-Computer Interaction (HCI). Please see http://innovation.cs.cmu.edu/ for more information.
What's your vision?
We need a poster to advertise our course to students at Carnegie Mellon. Poster goals: * Raise awareness about the course * Describe what students will learn/do in the course * Encourage students to sign up for the course Minimum information to include: * Course title * Full names of both professors * Some topics covered in the course * Semester (Spring 2014) * The target audience * Course website: http://innovation.cs.cmu.edu/ Theme and imagery: The course is an exciting, fun, creative opportunity, and the poster should convey this. The course topic is mobile technology, so this type of imagery would be appropriate. You may use the Carnegie Mellon logo or school colors but it is not required. Other details: The poster will be printed in color and hung up around campus. It will also be distributed digitally as a PDF to campus email lists. The poster should be optimized for 8.5” X 11” white paper (portrait orientation) for easy printing.
This contest is a little different from others on 99designs, because it’s also a research study. We are researchers at Carnegie Mellon University studying the creative process in online design contests. To be eligible to win the contest, you must complete the following requirements: * Agree to participate in the study and complete the pre-survey (https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1gtcgs-RgRSDRG1B8E2I0Rm4Efwfp1e5-cfelCcwIPcU/viewform) by Day 3. * Submit a draft of your poster design by Day 3. * Submit a final poster design by the deadline. * Complete a brief post-survey after submitting your final design. All participants who complete these requirements will receive a $10 Amazon gift card. The winner will also receive the standard 99designs prize money. If you have questions about this study, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
