Check out Jonathanmeloyjanis's Postcard, flyer or print contest…
We offer movement and wellness education workshops, based on using imagery to achieve healthy function in the body. The teaching is based on the Franklin Method (www.franklinmethod.com)
What's your vision?
POSTER Design - Size: 11x17 inches (11.25x 17.25 with bleed), 300dpi Overall: I've been experimenting with my own graphic design in Pixlr, so I have some ideas (attached). The design will be group shared with various people (more on this below), so most of it needs to be completely standard about Franklin Method. The Franklin Method is a cutting edge system of movement education. It’s purpose is to achieve healthy, easy, joyful, and efficient movement through the use of simple exercise and imagery. This design will be shared with various people, so it needs to be broken into two distinct sections. The first will be a general section promoting the Franklin Method, and I prefer you use the leg sweeping upwards with blue fan image. The second section will be a “customizable area.” This section will include the title of my workshop “Pelvic Powerhouse,” and all details. I will ask for two final copies 1) the finished poster for the current workshop, and 2) another copy with the “customizable area” blanked out, so that the design can be altered in the future. I leave it up to your creative judgment how to do that, but having all the "customizable" space in one block is ideal. I'm currently envisioning a poster split into 3/3, or perhaps along the golden ratio. Image: I have two hi-res images that could work for the design. I prefer to use the Leg sweeping with Fan image. Notice that I added copyright “Eric Franklin” in my sample design. We will need to do that if using any of the images that I'm including. An image is not necessary, if you are able to convey interest and details to the reader. Copy: I'm including my design, so you can see what I've done. The copy is not set in stone, and this design is already too wordy, however the list of words starting with "Joy & Expression" encompass the meaning of FM. Below you will find a link to a brainstorming session I did to figure out words to describe FM, if you're looking for some other creative inspiration. If you can show the idea using images, that's probably best, but the list of words can now start with "Effortless posture" & "Healthy alignment" https://docs.google.com/document/d/1zP8qb3ctrz4putzcPFOivlESV_C3iXmM2V95cJTR0KI/edit Main Title: "Franklin Method," sub-title "Transforming the Sitting Culture" Workshop Title: "Pelvic Powerhouse” is the workshop name, and then it has its own sub-title. QR code: I want a QR code in the personalized section (the code in my design is a sample, but the attached image is the correct code. I can get a higher resolution image, if needed) It links to a youtube video, giving a more in depth explanation of what the workshop will be about. I find that most QR codes in graphic design are useless, as I have no reason or desire to scan them. So I would like some sort of "actionable" design, drawing people to scan the code and learn more. The video is a 2 minute introduction to the workshop (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B90qXxzo0OU) The inclusion of this youtube link may make the list of words "Joy & Expression" in my original design, redundant. That is fine. Workshop Details (not all are included in my attached design): Title: Pelvic Powerhouse Sub-title: Using Imagery to Conduct the Symphony of the Pelvis Event Details: March 22-23, 9-5pm $125/ day $140/ day with vegan lunch Register before Feb 15, and Receive 2 Free Franklin Massage Balls ($24 value) Pre-Register Online: http://www.jonathanjanis.com firstname.lastname@example.org 503-351-8468 Awakenings Wellness Center 1016 SE 12th St Portland, OR 97214
This workshop is about Joy, Ease of Movement, and fluidity. It is great for yoga, pilates, athletics, or anyone that moves. But it's also great for people who sit at a desk all day. We are reconnecting with the natural movement of the body. The approach is fun, interesting, and engaging. I want these notions to be represented in the design. I like design that is modern, simple, eye-catching, and attractive. The images I have attached are all from the Franklin Method, and I like the bright colors, but we somehow have to make clear that this is movement education, helpful for anyone. This poster will be displayed in shop windows in Portland, OR, and there will be lots of other posters nearby. Something has to set this design apart.
