Cougar Crest Winery
Description of the product
We are designing for a family owned winery that have been pioneers in the Washington wine industry and specifically in the Walla Walla Valley appellation. The winery and current packaging are both looking for a modern/upscale facelift.
Description of the product target audience
The wines are not inexpensive and generally retail for $20-$75 a bottle. Our target audience is therefore a more sophisticated wine consumer. They are generally urban living, college educated 30-50 year old. Since we have a wide range of varietals we have both women and men, almost equally, that love our wine. Think of our wines appealing to both the men and women on Sex and the City.
We want a wine label designed that can be used for our entire lineup. Initially we would like you just to design a label for our Cabernet and eventually will need it adapted to a white wine. The label needs to be much more upscale than the current label. Everything except the name is open to design. The font should be considered for change but must be elegant and easy to read. We would not mind keeping the 'cougar' image but it should be used to elevate the label. Instead of the bold icon the cougar is today, I could see it used as an outline, emboss, artistic style that keeps part of the old label but elevates the look. The size of the label is open but we don't want to have a crazy shape as that would not fit with the cost of the wine. We are open to emboss, foils and other elements that will have the wine stand out on shelf. In the end you should think if a consumer picked up this bottle and knew nothing about the winery would they believe it is a $50 bottle of wine? I would definitely not use the (or any) vineyard image that is currently on the bottle.
