Food & Drink
Chapufarms is focused on fueling the new food revolution with cricket powder and other insect-based products. We are headquartered in Beautiful BC, Canada and handle most of our operations in Oaxaca Mexico where entomophagy runs deep in the local culture. We are a group of Canadian entrepreneurs and engineers that care deeply about the environment and the future of our planet. For many reasons widely discussed and now than ever as the public is made more aware about the opportunities in the global food value chain, we should look for alternative protein sources that are more sustainable and less resource intensive.
What's your vision?
We need the design of the packaging for a new brand of gourmet cooking flour based on crickets as well as a granola bar which uses the flour. We need to design the package which come in bags of several sizes. We are going to sell it in retail stores and online so we need the branding to be authentic, accesible, gourmet, and original. The brand name is Chapufarms and we have a logo but we are open to suggestions to adapt it to the package. Please checkout the site (chapufarms.com) for more details about the company as well as the attached logo files. I have included all the versions of the logo (with the slogan and without). Feel free to use any version you need and make modifications or adaptations where necessary. The dimensions of the flour bag are 9 x 3 x 6 inches and the energy bar are the standard dimensions of any other granola bar that you would find on the market. The flour bag should stand upright on a shelf. For examples of the form of the bag you can checkout competing products for ex: http://www.chapul.com/cricket-protein-powder/
Although the market for this product is global, in western culture there is much resistance to consuming products based on insects and incorporating insects into our diet, the branding should aim to break down this barrier and be very warm and approachable. Here are the presentations of competing products: Bag: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B5XXNCOx206vbzk1YzhsWEtVc1k Granola/Energy bars: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B5XXNCOx206vb0I2T3FUc3cwUjQ Although we can't look too similar to the competitor's product, in these folders you'll see examples of competing products as well as other examples for inspiration outside the specific product niche. In general we want to be an outstanding brand with consumer attraction for the energy bar product as well as focus primarily on the B2B sale to restaurants and companies for the flour product ( typically early adopters of this trend experimenting with making new food products using cricket flour ). The packaging must adhiere of course to FDA standards And so should consider a space dedicares to the nutritional falta either in text form or as a standard table: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B5XXNCOx206vLWZrWXVoSEFESGM Please include both the front and back sides for both the energy bars and flour. In terms of other design considerations it also should aim to showcase the following selling points and nutritional characteristics of the product (for both the bar and flour bag package design): https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B5XXNCOx206vbjNvZ3VxeDhnQjQ Also for design inspiration, you might want check out the following examples of other ( unrelated ) products: http://pin.it/FWCzPL1 The style of both the flour bag and energy bar should aim to have a similar look and feel with youthful, organic, natural, and wholesome sense. My suggestion for colours is to use earthy tones similar to other organic or "paleo" products on the market. Also in these categories the simplest or cleanest design seems to be most efective.
