Description of the product
Fresh mushrooms are the third most popular ‘fresh vegetable’ at the grocery store and 11% of consumer vegetable purchases/yr are spent on mushrooms. We are offering mushroom growing kits for people to grow at home. The mushrooms will come in a bag, soak the mushroom bag overnight, place back in the box shipping box, and mushrooms will grow in 10 days or less (will need to add a TBSP of water per day)! Customers will be able to subscribe to receiving growing kits on a monthly basis so they can have fresh mushrooms on regular basis (much like BirchBox business model, getting new boxes every month). This gives people the opportunity to grow their own ingredients and grow their own food. Reduce carbon footprint, buying directly from the farmer in Pacific, Missouri.
Description of the product target audience
In 2015, about one out of three households (43.2 million) spent an estimated $3.6 billion growing vegetables, fruit, berries and herbs and an estimated 90 million households participated in do-it-yourself lawn and gardening activities. Customers are looking for local options that are healthier and something they can grow themselves. The do-it-yourself gardener, local foodie, healthy eater, and interested in culinary cooking. Customer that has disposable income, undergraduate education and above, 22 and older, male and female (but primarily female). Parents also like to teach their children how mushrooms grow and school teachers that would like to have their students grow their own food as a learning experience. Customers will be purchasing the product online (eCommerce). Product is launching in the United States first.
