Redbaronx13 got their new product packaging by running a design contest:
TOP SHELF PREMIUM CHEWING TOBACCO - LOGO/PACKAGING DESIGN
Check out Redbaronx13's Product packaging contest…
Top Shelf Premium Chewing Tobacco is a smokeless tobacco company that targets anyone who takes part in using smokeless tobacco products. Right now I find that the competition targets more of an USA southerner, cowboy lifestyle . I would like to break that mold and have a product that looks great from the outside as well as it's contents. I would like to target the athletes, military and suburban lifestyles.
What's your vision?
Name of the product is called "Top Shelf" Sub name "Premium Chew" Should inspire that high quality product that most people want but cant afford. I'm open to all ideas to what comes to mind when you think Top Shelf. My first thoughts about the name reminded me of the roaring 20's with the boom of gangsters and speakeasy. This is my thought but I don't know if it will translate well onto a tobacco product. I am open to all ideas. I will need 5 designs of all the same with just the coloring to be changed to represent the flavor of the tobacco. THE NAME SHOULD BE BOLD AND BIG SO IT CAN BEEN SEEN FROM BEHIND THE COUNTER - APROX 15ft AWAY
LOGO I do not have a logo for the company name "Top Shelf" but I would like the company name presented in a nice typeface so it fits well with the design. COLOR = FLAVOR I attached pictures of competitor’s brands. You will noticed that there are many different colors with the same name. Each color represents a flavor. Chewing tobacco comes in many flavors. The colors usually match the flavor. For Example Mint - Blue, Wintergreen - Green Burgundy - Wild Berry. Top Shelf Premium Chew will have 5 Flavors associated with the 5 colors. 1. Wintergreen - Green 2. Orange - Orange 3. Lemon - Yellow 4. Cinnamon - Red 5. Vanilla - Cream "FAT CUT" Snuff/Chewing tobacco comes in many forms. Most commonly you will see “Long Cut" usually approve or beneath the company name. Top Shelf has an original process called "Fat Cut." This must be label somewhere on the design. WARNING LABEL: You will also notice a warning label on the front (TOP) and side labels. This warning must be 30% of the image. Warning should say "WARNING: Smokeless tobacco is addictive" TOP & SIDE LABEL DIMENSIONS: The top label diameter is 6cm (2.3622”) add bleed at top and bottom if printing will print all the way to the (top and bottom) edge of the label The side label that wraps around the container is: Labels – 21.43cm (8.4375”) x 1.905cm ( .75”) – add bleed at top and bottom if printing will print all the way to the (top and bottom) edge of the label Must also contain a warning 30% of the image. As seen in the examples attached.
Every design category has flexible pricing for all budgets. Product packaging starts at €409.

And then… they selected a winner!
My experience with V Design1 was very prompt and very professional. Designer went above and beyond to meet my needs. Was the only designer that actually read my request correctly and designed logo that I wanted in detail based on my initial request (I had over 40+ designers send me incorrect samples not close to what I had requested). I will definitely be coming back to 99designs.com for my next project.
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
We think contests are a super fun way to get design.
