bill.french got their new web page design by running a design contest:
Beautiful but very functional Intranet home page
Check out bill.french's Web page design contest…
This will be the homepage for an internal intranet side initially targeting employees, but eventually students. It needs to be nice looking, but very very functional for internal users to access resources they need, and also be informed of various changes and initiatives.
http://forms.ptsem.edu/images/tnsimages/647XK4JC4R.png this has most of what we want functionality-wise.
I am debating a more traditional layout, as in: http://forms.ptsem.edu/images/tnsimages/647XK4JC4R.png Also we are pretty settled on the top nav bars shown above. I'd also like to consider layouts using masonry/packery, etc, like: http://www.creativejournal.com/ ... with some of the apps functionality in a fixed positions.

Designers across the globe delivered design magic.
bill.french collaborated with designers to refine their ideas
When design entries come in, you can rate them so designers know what you’re looking for in your logo design.
99designs has great collaboration tools so you can pinpoint and capture your ideas
And then… they selected a winner!
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
We think contests are a super fun way to get design.
