Sarah Lewis needed a new web page design and created a contest on 99designs.
A winner was selected from 35 designs submitted by 19 freelance designers.
I'm looking for a homepage design for a new Web 2.0 site. A concept sketch is available in the full brief, but I'm very interested in your design creativity, so use it simply as a reference. I do not have a logo for this so feel free to use simple logo-type of your choice.
Feedback will be detailed and thorough (and honest to the point of possibly being blunt, but I think that's more helpful than "not really what I'm looking for...").
Lonely Domains
Tagline:
.com domain names longing to be loved
Desired Color Scheme:
bold and cheery (no specific color requirements, though)
Desired Style:
Clean, modern, "Web 2.0", fun
Accepted File Formats:
PSD or layered PNG (Fireworks)
Thank you for taking the time to read about my project. I know there are tons of contests, and I appreciate that you're taking a look.
Lonely Domains will be a community-based domain-finding site. I've got the technical side figured out but need someone to help make it pretty. :)
You can find a basic sketch here:
http://www.lonelydomains.com/lonely…sketch.png
This sketch shows the various elements I want on the front page; specifically:
- Name and tagline
- Navigation
- Search
- Top Contributors
- Popular Tags
- Recent Finds
However, please note that I'm extremely flexible on the placement and presentation of these elements. If you want to move them around, arrange them differently, whatever, go for it.
The primary source of revenue for this site will be commissions from domain registrations, so it's important that the "Register" link on each domain listing is visible and appealing. I may also integrate ads at some point, so feel free to show those in your design if you like.
I haven't included ANY style information in the sketch, so please use your judgment. However, I know I hate doing projects with no guidelines whatsoever, so I've bookmarked some sites I like, just for reference: http://del.icio.us/bookchiq/lonely_domains
I'll provide specific feedback on all entries.
