Hi we are looking for a reskinning of a webpage where design elements/style can be replicated across the entire site.
First of all I have done a complete layout and "rough" design myself (I am not a designer though!). This layout is done in HTML and includes the functionality we require. Here is my effort at the page redesign: (DESIGN 1) http://www.footballforums.net/zeb_t…_new_3.htm PLEASE CLICK ON THE "CONTINUE" BUTTONS TO SEE WHAT THEY DO.
Also please look at this other example of a redesign (DESIGN 2)http://www.whiteflame.eu/clients/chillisauce/ (This is a straight image)
OVERVIEW:
We quite like the vibrancy of DESIGN 1, and it also has charactor and a unique feel, but you can tell it has not been done by a professional designer and it does not look polished. There also seems to be to much seperation into different elements of the Larger curved block areas, in particlular the top nav area, bread crumb and "Contact US image" with the child on the phone. The curved layout is appealing but it seems to be a bit "overdone" - but it looks better than the completely blocky design of DESIGN 2.
DESIGN 2 - has been done by a designer ( who was given DESIGN 1 to improve). It does look more polished, however it is terribly boring and to us it shows no imagination and could have been done by anyone with some basic editor skills. Essentially it just looks like any other website out there and could simply be a template out of the box.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
1/. The page must be designed to incorporate all the elements shown in DESIGN 1. IE Top nav, breadcrumb, main text, main image, side elements, sub links with images etc etc
2/. For the element boxes which show "Sky Diving" you should design with the point in mind that it should still look good if you have varying length texts. The boxes with images are designed to show our most important products and then when you hit the more/continue button you see a series of boxes without images and just text, which are less important products. So your design will still look good if the text of these elements vary! ( DESIGN 2 would not as there is nothing containing the text and associated image ).
3/. The page should be designed to be 960 pixels wide.
4/. The DESIGN 1 was designed to keep the important user information in front of the user without much/any scrolling - hence the inclusion of the continue buttons which show more information with leaving the page. This should be incorporated in the design.
5/. The design does not have to have a background image ( or orangy background ) as shown in DESIGN 1 and DESIGN 2. I am totally open to ideas without a background if you can make it work without looking plain.
6/. Don't include a search area ( as in DESIGN 2 ) in your design as we have not got a satisfactory search function at the moment!
7/. Include an area for a tag line approximately 5 words long near/in the page header.
8/. Colors - You should use the logo colors + grey and white for the design - NOTE that the exact colours of the logo can look to "garish" when used heavily and particluarly in large blocks, so it may be an idea to use slightly duller tones of these as done in DESIGN 1.
