eaweiss got their new web page design by running a design contest:
Need website for fun, classy cocktail festival company

Food & Drink
We throw large-scale cocktail festivals (Bloody Mary Festivals) in several different U.S. cities. We go to each city and find the 10 - 15 bars/restaurants that make the best and most creative bloody marys in each city. We bring them together under one roof to serve small 5 oz sample sizes to attendees and professional judges in the food industry. We need a website to help promote the festivals and sell tickets. Our target audience includes festival attendees who generally are age 24-39, working and educated professionals, are interested in local, artisanal food (are “foodies”) and skew slightly female.
- Chic, modern, FUN, classy, artisanal, easy to use. Take a look at the photos from our past festivals for inspiration. They include high quality LOCAL bars and restaurants. They are very creative with the bloody marys they serve at the festival: small cups (perhaps we can use the small cup idea in some way), creative GARNISHES, creative ingredients. - Our audience consists of FOODIES. This is also a contest, with judges and a people's choice award - so each attendee gets to vote for their favorite bloody mary. They take place on Sundays and include music, so think a fun environment where attendees can hang out with their friends. - We want a photo box to be featured prominently on the home page and it will show scrolling pictures as we like to highlight photos from our past events to get people excited for future events. And also, it should be easy to see the upcoming events. - We already have a logo for each event (attached) and also "The Bloody Mary Festival" header logo (attached).
Please take a look at second glass.com for inspiration. We like their home page. However, their event pages are too cluttered - we want something cleaner on the event pages. HOME PAGE: - Heading logo (attached) - White background; our logo (attached) has red and green so keeping fonts in these colors is ideal) - The following four buttons to be included (think creative buttons): About the Festival, Events, Press, Contact Us - We would like a large scrolling picture window, which will include photos from past festivals - In addition to the “Events” button, we want to see “Upcoming Events” and “Past Events” on the right side of the Home page. The event detail should include City, Date, Buy Tickets links and option to click on Details to read about the event. The upcoming events will be "Brooklyn", "Washington DC", "San Francisco" and "New York City." - Social media buttons: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter - Sign up for our email list (name, email, checklist of cities they are interested in getting emails about) EVENTS PAGE: Each upcoming event (City) will have its own event page but the design will be identical for each. The purpose of these event pages is to give the details to our potential ticket buyers. Please include the following: - Logo for the relevant city - Date - Time (12:30pm-4:00pm) - Venue name and address - Map of venue location - "Buy tickets" link - "Event description/info" - "List of participating bars and restaurants" (in a nice table) - "Event sponsors" (we have a few for each event and will post their logos on each event page)
What to avoid
What to avoid Don't use any square buttons. Too generic looking. We are looking to bring in creativity through the buttons - think the small cups we use for our festivals, creative garnishes, etc. -Background color should be white or off white. No other colors for background.
Attached is the logo for each festival and the header logo. And a bunch of photos for inspiration, and perhaps you can use the photos in your design.
