Site perception
The site is for a marketing consultancy for SMEs so the website should be professional and visually appealling but not intimidating. A contemporary style is desired (but not so fashionable it's out of date next year), clean, approachable and dynamic.
Primary action
The primary role for the website will be for prospective clients to refer to it to see what the company is all about, and to give the company credibility and presence on the web. The primary action for a visitor to the website to take is to contact the company to arrange an initial meeting, by phoning or completing short form on website.
Typical Customer/Target visitor

Main contact likely to be MD, aged 30-60, male and female. All industries, but initial focus will be on more creative industries who will be very good at what they do but may not have the commercial skills to grow their business.

The client has also expressed a liking for these marketing websites http://www.marketingzone.co.uk and http://www.concept-design.co.uk as they are clear and structured.
The client doesn't like websites where the navigation is unclear, or icons instead of words are used so the user has to guess where to click. They also don't like websites which are too cluttered, so the user isn't sure where to go.
