The Brief
About us
We need a LOGO for the scientific research project μAQUA (microAQUA). The collaborative project will be carried on by an international consortium of 12 research organizations in the theme KBBE (Food, Agriculture, and Biotechnology) of the European Commission’s Seventh Framework Programme (FP7). The project aims at developing universal microarrays for the evaluation of fresh-water quality based on detection of pathogens and their toxins.

The logo design should fit with the basic idea of the research project: “Development of a device for the simultaneous detection of pathogens in waters. This device will consist of a DNA chip carrying thousands of oligonucleotides (short DNA sequences) spotted on its surface.” The logo must be appealing for scientists working on molecular ecology and environmental microbiology, and also for water monitoring agencies. Keywords: WATER; DNA CHIP; MICROARRAYS; DETECTION OF PATHOGENS; INNOVATIVE AQUATIC BIOSENSOR; EU FP7; SCIENCE; BIOTECHNOLOGIES The logo must contain: (1) The wordmark μAQUA in big (this is essential since it represents the acronym of the project); (2) Water (symbol, picture, sketch, drawings) (3) Fluorescent spots on a (portion of?) DNA chip Maybe the water can be represented falling on the DNA chip or beginning to cover the chip...
